Avon Nursery School provides classes for ages 2.8 – 5 years, that focus on children’s growing curiosity, inquisitive minds and need to understand through participation. Our daily plans and curriculum  are supported by the Connecticut Early Learning & Development Standards and national Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

We strive to enhance self-esteem by offering unique opportunities and choices for children. This allows them the freedom to explore, discover, practice and develop an active, lifelong love of learning in a safe and loving environment.

We help each child to develop his/her unique social, language and motor skills by participating in dramatic play, building activities, sensory and science experiments, music and movement, visual and fine art projects, reading and writing adventures and outdoor play. We encourage curiosity about our surroundings and foster an appreciation for nature and the world we live in.

In addition, Avon Nursery School intentionally plants and nurtures the seeds of peace and tolerance. We help children learn how to sustain friendships, develop empathy, and resolve conflicts. We do not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, sex, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin or disability and Avon Congregational Church does not teach religion nor proselytize in any way.

We believe open communication between home and school is the foundation for a positive preschool experience. Parents/Guardians are invited into the classroom for special events throughout the year. We send home monthly newsletters, calendars and memos so you stay connected to the happenings at Avon Nursery School.
